Creating alternatives to slaughter for BC horses.

Wish and Reason were taken to be sold at the Kamloops auction. They were listed ahead of time on the auction website, with a write up that included their names. Their owner gave explicit instructions that they were not to be sold for meat, and told the auction she would pick them up if a private buyer wasn’t available.

When the bidding started it was BC Horse Angels going against the kill buyer.  He was determined to get both horses, but especially Reason, as she was exactly the type the meat industry pays top dollar for. BC Horse Angels outbid him at $700 for Reason and $500 for Wish.

It was tragic to see that such friendly, trusting, affectionate and well cared for, healthy horses (bridle paths trimmed) so narrowly escaped a brutal death by slaughter. Had BC Horse Angels not attended the auction, they both would have shipped to Bouvry Exports and vanished into thin air had their owner ever tried to track down their whereabouts in the future.

Wish has been adopted to a great home in Vernon, where she’ll be lavished with attention as a show pony and doted on by adoring little girls. Thank you, Nell Elders!

Reason is available for adoption.

Thank you for your continued support.  Your kindness is transforming the lives of B.C. horses and advancing the effort to end the slaughter of horses in Canada for human consumption.
